The great advantage of distribution of digital publications via a web-site, is that users just click a link (usually a graphic representation of the publication) and download it to their computer. This method of distribution does, however, have it’s drawbacks. The most obvious of these is that people do not necessarily know of your web-site, so may not see your publication.

A better option is to use email to let prospective customers know of the existence of your publication. It is often a good idea to include a link in your email that points customers directly to the download link on your web-site. This is better than physically attaching the publication to your email. Publication files can be quite large, and if sent as an attachment unsolicited, may cause frustration to your target recipients.

If you don’t have a web-site, but want to email your prospective or existing customers with your publication, you can simply rent space on a publicly accessible server where your publications can be stored. You then provide a link directly to your publication file. When a user clicks on such a link, they won’t actually go to a web-site. Instead they will see a windows dialogue box that prompts them to either save or run the file.  This is a fast and efficient way of distributing digital publications.
